New partnership to promote a sustainable music scene
It's time for joint solutions, which is why a number of companies and organisations are launching the Music Industry Partnership for Sustainable Development and introducing the Music Industry Code for Equal Access. The chairperson of the Danish Artist Association is among the initiators.
Concrete actions to contribute to change
The partnership's first concrete initiative is the launch of the Danish Music Industry Code for Equal Access. All organisations and companies in the Danish music industry, large and small, can sign up to the Code. By signing up, you show support for change and commit to working with the six principles of the code. At the same time, you also commit your organisation or company to making your efforts measurable and reporting on progress and results.
"Danish and international studies have confirmed that the music industry faces significant challenges in ensuring that all talents have the opportunity to realise their full professional and artistic potential with a long career path. And we also know from recent reports where we need to take action. The code is therefore a call to action and a proposal for how the many small and large players in the music industry can take concrete steps to promote social sustainability," says Sara Indrio, chairperson of the Danish Artist Association and representative from the partnership's steering committee.
to realise their full professional and artistic potential with a long career path."
Joint effort is crucial
It's time to create the solutions that one player in the Danish music industry cannot achieve alone. This is the vision behind the Danish Music Industry's Partnership for Sustainable Development, created by a number of companies and organisations from the Danish music industry. Together, the partnership wants to inspire each other, develop and disseminate solutions to the cross-cutting challenges that stand in the way of a more sustainable music industry - both economic, environmental and social sustainability.
We have an ambition to make a positive difference to the society and industry we are a part of. It's not something we as an industry can do overnight or individually. It takes a long, hard work. That's why we're incredibly proud to be able to help launch the Music Industry Partnership for Sustainable Development. These kinds of partnerships are crucial if we are to truly solve the challenges our industry faces when it comes to ensuring a more sustainable music scene," says Gorm Arildsen, Koda's CEO and representative from the partnership's steering committee.
The entire music value chain needs to get moving
Collaboration is the idea behind the creation of the partnership. The solutions to the industry's sustainability challenges require all stakeholders across the music industry to work together to create the necessary structural changes.
"It's not enough for a few players to work on these challenges. We need the entire music value chain to get moving if we are to reverse the trend and promote equal access for all, promote greater mental health and well-being, and green the industry. The music industry must work together to strengthen the conditions for future development and earnings, and therefore the ambition of the partnership is, among other things, that as many as possible join the partnership," says Henrik Sveidahl, Rector of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory and representative of the partnership steering committee.
